Waves

Waves is the first original demo I wrote exclusively on the guitar. It speaks to allowing good things to come into your life after a period of darkness. The person singing this song is not quite healed yet, but they realize they are worthy of love, and capable of loving... even in an imperfect world.

Every sound you hear in this song was played or recorded by me. I recorded the rain you hear in the background by holding an sm57 up to a skylight in my room during a storm. The synths, keys, and guitar tracks are all raw recordings from my own instruments, while the lo-fi kick you hear during the chorus is digital and sequenced by me in Logic Pro.

Time Goes By

Time Goes By… This demo started out as an instrumental that I made solely to practice my strumming on the electric guitar. Then, I started having too much fun layering melodies from the Roland Juno 60 on top of the guitar tracks. All of a sudden a verse poured out. Something about these synth sounds took me back to my Grandpa’s house in National City, Michigan, catching frogs and fishing for bluegill. It’s short and sweet, like these two kiddos on the left (my older sister and I… circa 2005).

Old Man

This demo tells the story of a gambling man nearing the end of his days, who misses his people. I’m proud of this one. Played every little thing.

Vignette

Vignette is a song I produced with my old friend and frequent collaborator, Grayson Bennett (OUTPOST EAST). I had just graduated from undergrad and moved to Nashville with no plan other than to make as much art as possible. I got a job at the first place that would hire me, and began working in retail at the local mall, not really loving life. I often wondered how my peers from college were fairing in the real world. I guess this song came from questioning my place here. It isn’t easy choosing to follow art instead of a paycheck. However, I am very proud to love something as much as I love the arts.

Sonically, the part of this piece that I am most proud of is the piano outro. Grayson had left his home studio to grab a bite to eat, and I sat there alone, tinkering on the piano. By the time he had returned, I was playing the chords and melody that you hear in the last 30 seconds or the track.

Songs from the Peaches EP

These are three songs that I wrote for a collaborative project between me and Grayson Bennett called PlexiGlass! For this project, I wrote the lyrics, and he made the beats. We released the EP on all platforms in September of 2025.

For The Screen

“thursday was rainy and i was late for work but the traffic gets crazy in rough weather down here, and i realized i love you even in bad weather”

The following composition is a lullaby of sorts that I created with intentions of using for some future film project. I had so much fun building layer after layer of ornamental fill, phrase, and lick to propel this slow wave forward. I know that the title is ridiculously long, but as an homage to New Blue Sun by Andre 3000, it was only right.
